A New Wave by Laura Bilde & Linnea Ek Blæhr

Séché Studio is a design studio comprising Laura Bilde and Linnea Ek Blæhr. Sharing a deep understand- ing of aesthetics, the duo works with objects and spaces in the tension field between functionality and sculptural expressions. With their conceptual approach, they create designs that experiment with materi- als and shapes while combining tactility, sensuousness and enticement. The design philosophy of Séché Studio is to create iconic, simple and timeless items.

Educational backgrounds and previous works

Laura and Linnea graduated in furniture design from VIA Design, Denmark, in 2016. Both designers have worked at Norm Architects, one of the largest and most recognised Danish practices. Laura and Linnea were involved in designing Sticks’n’Sushi in Chelsea, a richly textured space where Scandina- vian and Japanese aesthetics meet through an emphasis on natural materials and an overall sense of contemporary luxury. Besides that,

they gracefully transferred minimalism and materiality to the yacht settings and restrictions of the Y/Yachts model Y7 through tactile surfaces, all-natural materials and matt finishes. In the Seaside Abode interior renovation, they moreover add- ed Scandic-bohemian feels and barefoot luxury to the mod- ernised coastal home bringing Japanese Zen aesthetics and Danish cottage style together.

Before joining forces in Séché Studio, Laura developed product designs for Please Wait to be Seated and Linnea for New Works. Besides working with Ege Carpets, Séché Stu- dio cooperates with Danish glasswork company Holmegaard and Swedish lamp design brand Pholc.

ReForm A New Wave design inspiration

When creating A New Wave, the design duo found inspiration in the rough and untouched landscape of the Danish West Coast. Reflecting natural textures, shapes and captivating scenery, the collection ex- presses tactility on a functional and sensual level that encourages you to feel the patterns of the sand, the strict lines of the grass dunes and the rhythm of the waves washing in. With their first carpet collection, the designers bring three sensuous designs to the floor; Sand, Grass and Ocean – all of them formed by multi levels in the soft yarn constructions.

Upcoming of the year

In 2016, Laura was awarded Upcoming of the year at the Design Awards 2016 hosted by Bo Bedre. The jury acclaimed her ability to experiment with materials and simple details that bring joy into the use of her designs.

Bo Bedre feature

In 2020, Linnea was featured in Danish interior magazine Bo Bedre (No. 2) in an article about her collaboration with interior design company New Works and how the Blæhr vase came to life in the glass workshop with Anders Raad. The vase tests the boundaries of mouth blown glass with a timber-moulded form that grows with each edition.
